So before a couple weeks ago my HUD was just fine. Now recently I just can't see it. At best it's curring off the bottom 1/2 of the numbers on the digital speedo.
I can move the HUD down without any issues and bring it back up to the point where it was before moving it. However that just doesn't seem as high it was before. I haven't changed my seating position and I'm not leaning way back in the seat.
Dunno... I did a search and didn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue or knows a fix?
Normally the HUD display will be chopped off as it reaches the top, (at least for us tall people). You should be able to us a flashlight and look down in the HUD through the windshield and look over on the left side. I think you can see those switches from outside. Looking at the photo Connecticut posted the switches are top 1/3 and just right of the center. There is two small switches with two wires attached on each of the arc shaped slot, the slot looks white in the photo. If you notice there is a little tab sticking out in the middle of the slot, this HUD is set about half way top to bottom. This tab will move from one switch to the other as you move the HUD up and down. If you can see the switches see if they go all the way from one switch to the other. If they do then the HUD is working properly, if not then it is probably sticking or binding. Should be really easy to fix once you remove the HUD. If you can't see the switches from outside you might be able to compare the mirror angle to another C5 if anyone else near you has one with a HUD.
My HUD is moving from switch to switch. Could the entire thing be out of alignment?

If it moves down but not up, something must be binding in there. Might want to contact forum member PaceThis - I think he knows about the HUD and its workings. Maybe he can give you some advice.
Get any help on this yet?
I was down in Rocky Mount NC During Hurricane Floyd in 99(I think). I swam through the flood waters and pulled a few people out. The place looked completely wrecked. I am sure the area recovered by now, but at the time it looked like it had been washed off the map
National Guard? I know you guys saved a lot of people in that hurricane all over NC.
I started working here in 2001 so I didn't experience the flood in RM. I was living in Plymouth, NC back then. It didn't flood there nearly as bad. You know the big mall that flooded in 99 here in Rocky Mount? They just tore that down about 2 months ago. Big SAMS is going in it's spot.
Funny, im having the exact same problem with my 2002! After searching it seems the mirror or inner part of the HUD might have come loose. Looks like the dash is comin out so i can see what the deal is.

Let us know what you find....Every once and a while this topic comes up, but, we never hear what the outcome was. Good luck...
"I had the same problem on my 2000. The two tips on the mirror that adjust the display were broken on mine. They are plasic and cheap. I took it apart and tried to fix but I couldn't get the adjustment back right. Fred Beans will ship you a new unit for 184.00. Takes a couple of hours to change out. Dash pad has to come out. "
Thanks matt. Keep me updated man... first cool day I will probably be yanking mine out to see if that is the issue. I hate to have to do it twice but I don't see a away around it other than just spending the $184 up front.
Here is the text of an email I got from "PaceThis", someone above recommended I contact him.
It sounds like the projector mechanics are broken, though it's also possible it's the switch. Either way, it should be one part or the other, and will take you about an hour and a half to change out
