colored door bezels problems
I ordered red door bezels from mid america they came sat when to put them on and noticed that they were pealing around the edges.Anyone else have this problem? They are going to replace them for me but i hope the new ones are not the sameway.I called and asked what kind of paint they use and was told the paint that is used on the outside of cars.i think differentpaint should be used to paint plastic like vinyl or laquer paint.
From: The line waiting to see Santa Claus stretched all the way back to Terre Haute, and I was at the end, Indiana

I've tried these a couple of times with the same results. They didn't fit well and the paint wasn't very good. Just got a refund and gave up after the second set.

Did you ever try to repaint them yourself with better paint.I had a 75 stingray and redid the whole inside but was told by the paint shop to use laquar. The car stores out here have told me if i ever want to try to repaint it should be vinyl paint for inside the car parts because vinyl has a give to it when it is put on plastic.Well i will see what happines with the second set if it is the same problem i will redo them myself. Thanks Charlene
WOW those are beautiful fender covers did you make those yourself?
Nope, they come from vetteorama.com. I do have a set on my car and everyone that's seen them loves them. Very easy to install, and the guys at vetteorama are very good to work with...

Exterior paint should be fine for this application IF DONE PROPERLY.
The nose and rear of your car are flexible and the paint is fine there. They just have to add some kind of flex agent to the paint. I am not sure of the entire process, but it obviously can be done so I would not worry if I were you.
BUT if the next set does not look any better, I'd send them back and look elsewhere for them..
i just sent mine back thursday to mid america same problem paint peeling looked at the one still in the bag and it was peeling around the edges also didnt fit all that great either

I was so mad when i got those and they were like that and then you have to mail them back but they sent me a mailing lable to send them back i hope the next set is better. If not i will do the painting myself with other paint.I am sure since they are getting mine back and yours they will look into the problem with them at least i hope they will. They were painted poorly and your are right they did not fit great either too loose when they were snaped into place. Now i will have to wait for a week for the replacements.

Charlene,
I had the same prob with mine. Found that the interior paint that MidAmerica sells in the back of their catalog is a better paint for interior plastic and matches better (at least the Lt. Oak) than what they sell already colored. No more scratches or chipping. Even did the trim rings around the A/C vents...Now everything matches the leather.

Dan the paint that they sell do you think it is the same paint that they painted the bezels with that they sell?If the next set i get is like the first then i will paint them myself i was told vinyl automotive paint is suppose to work well on interior plastic.Well we will see what i get..
Just paint them yourself. 2 bottles of TR paint from Wal-Mart and 1 bottle of primer = $5. All you have to do is prime, sand, prime, sand, paint, sand, paint, sand. Real easy, takes a couple of hours, usually waiting for paint to dry.
