Whatever you hear, you should add the stock C6 and C6 Z06 shifters to the group. Very few trade-offs associated with those, but I'm not speaking from personal experience (only forum research).
?, that would shorten the length of the shifter, not the "throw" ie...meaning the length of travel that the shifter does between shifts. I have a B&M ripper and I love it.

It DOES shorten the throw (amount of distance the shifter ball travels from front to back), and increases effort due to less leverage. Its elementary geometry, and it is a noticable difference in shifting. Not to be compared to an aftermarket shifter, but a simple mod that is free.

Actually, you may want to read the comments about cutting off a shifter by the designer of the MTI Six Shooter shifter on the MTI Racing web site. Very enlighting for me and would be for you as well.
As for top notch shifters the Six Shooter has no equal IMHO.
I just installed the MTI six shooter myself - easy install except for me dropping a bolt through the hole and having to remove everything to get the bolt out. It's the only aftermarket shifter I've used, but the shifts are much easier/shorter without and noticable increase in effort. The 2-3 upshift is much better and downshifts are more precise.

Kind of what I was trying to say, just didn't say it right. Thanks for the info

Well it surprised me too. I always thought just cutting off some of the shifter would shorten throws like an aftermarket. Thats why the experts are the experts!
I don't think that a perfect shifter exists for everyone. If you're a drag racer, you want a short, precise throw even if it is stiff. You're just not shifting that much in a drag race. OTOH, you might not like this shifter if you commute with the car and have some stop and go traffic to contend with. Or.. If your wife wants to drive the car.
If you're a road racer, a short throw might not be all that important to you. Actually, I like a little longer throw for a road course because it's easier to tell what gear you're in.
For all around, I personally like either the Mallett (cut down and re-threaded for a little shorter throw and you can use the shift **** of your choice) or the C6 shifter. All the other shifters are either too stiff, too notchy or too noisy for me.
