Thanks for the information. I'm not sure I can use a Bassani X-pipe with the American Racing headers I have, as it has their own X-pipe as part of their system (I think it's one piece). I'll have to check it out. I did have the Corsa X-pipe before the header install, and I had the same amount of popping as I do now, albeit quieter.
you've already got an x-pipe that is superior than the others based on it's location in the system:
I hate that GM changed the firing order on LS engines. I know they did it to eliminate predentonation and enable them to increase the compression ratio, but I still hate it. It is the reason our engines sound like motorboats and Chevy Trucks (LT series) sound better than ours !
In the old days, we called it "sucking back". You'd back off your dual exhaust steel pack mufflered carburated V8 in second gear and the popping and backfires would wake the dead. Great fun.

There I vented !
I believe that it may have had something to do with NVH as well, and my corvette doesn't sound anything like a motorboat.... but I have longtube headers, x pipe and corsa indy's, and it sounds mean as h3LL!
slowing in 2nd gear in my 99 5.3 LS Silverado! duel flowmasters!
I have yet to experiance that in my C5 as I'm still paying off plastic debt incurred from recent divorce. That day will come though!
I envy you guys with all the kool mods.
