not all track events require a fire extinquisher. that being said I think it is wise to have one. You may never need it, but someone else on the track might.
I use the Brey Krause. they make a nice one that fits right in front of the seat.
I also have the BK bracket installed in front of the passenger seat. Excellent bracket. I leave it installed for street driving too. Bought fire extinguisher from local company that sells/services fire extinguishers. My extinguisher is made by AMEREX and its mounting plate bolted right onto the BK bracket with no problem at all.
Where are you guys putting the fire extinquisher that are required for track days?? Any bracket that is the favorite?
Do all track days require a fire extinquisher??

They sell a fire extinguishers mounting bracket that installs on the front of the passenger seat of C5 through 2007 C6 Corvettes including Z06’s. The C506 bracket will fasten to the front two seat rails and can be installed or removed in seconds without tools. The bracket must be installed with the seat adjusted fully back. There will be a small amount of forward seat adjustment on power seats once the bracket is in place. C6 bracket will accept only Amerex fire extinguishers from 1.0 lbs up to 2.5 lbs. The C506 Extinguisher bracket is constructed through a precision laser machined process and is powder coated with a matt (flat) finish. Brackets come with detailed instructions. They are currently installed on the 2006 brick yard Pace car Corvettes. www.speeddirect.com
I use the BK mounting bracket and have a Halon extinguisher. Best bracket and location IMHO and a halon extinguisher if you have to use it will not add to the mess you have to clean up.
I would recommend a halon fire extinguisher, as it supposedly will not attack any car parts that you spray it at.
Can you still buy Halon??? I have a medium sized Halon unit from a computer room (not in my car!!) from like 15 years ago in the house. Great stuff but I didn't think it was still available. Halon is fantastic for putting out fires. Not nearly as much mess to clean up afterwards.
I put fire extinguishers in every car I own... even the wife's Taurus. As Wicked Weasel mentioned, you may not need it but someone else may benefit from it. One thing I feel very strongly about however is to ensure that you mount it securely. You'd be better off with no extinguisher over one that's going to go flying around the cabin in an accident.

Yes, All the Halon today is recycled. There is still tons of it out there.

I also have the BK bracket mounted in front of the driver's seat. I bought a chrome 2.5 lb. Amerex extinguisher from the local fire equipment store. I believe it is an ABC extinguisher. I paid less than $50.
