Should the front end alignment be done only at a Chevy dealer? or is any place that does FEA be OK? Like NTB?
Is it a good idea if you are getting the fronts done, go ahead and do the rear too?
The reason I am asking is my front tires are wearing bad on the inside edge (driver worse than passenger) and I need a new tire. Since the driver is worse than pass, it shouldn't be a problem to buy just 1 tire? I like to get them in pairs, but cant afford to throw these boys away with half the tread left
you want to get a 4 wheel alignment, and there is no requirement to have it done at a dealer. I use a little place that specializes in alignments which is about 20 miles away from me - they have an outstanding reputation. Expect to pay around $80 - 120ish.
thanks for the info. I thought 4 wheel was going to be the answer, but since the rears 'appear' to be wearing evenly I thought I might save a few pennies .. better to do it right the first time..
The rear tires would have to be waaaaaay off to cause a problem with the front tires. Since the rear tires are wearing evenly, I would not mess with them.
If your front tires are just wearing on the inside, you probably just have too much negative camber. The factory specs allow a lot of negative camber for handling, but if you want reasonable street tire wear, you need to get the camber close to zero. I had a full degree negative on my Z06 from the factory, and finally had to back it down to about -1/8 degree to keep the tires from totally wearing out on the inside.
