I have a question about cleaning a convertible top. The tan top on my '98 has visible light streaks about 2" wide as if
it were cleaned, by the previous owner, with possibly a pressure washer or a narrow steam nozzle. I think these areas
are actually cleaner then adjacent areas, which give the streaky appearance and I would like to have the top uniformly clean.
Can I a use common household products like "Fantastic", "409", "Simple Green" etc and what would be the recommended cleaning procedure?
I would recommend cleaning with Ragg Top cleaner and then use their protectant as well. Available from a number of the forum sponsors and the corvette museum.
Car Car section will have other opinions as well (there are a number of previous post about the same thing).

RaggTopp is my favorite. Another is 303 Protectant. On the cloth tops - be very careful with harsh chemicals not designed for the fabric, and be sure to avoid a stiff brush - you'll "pill" the top.
The Raggtopp is also sold as a kit. If you decide to use the cleaner and then treat it with the protectant areosol spray - make very sure that you mask off EVERYTHING that you don't want the spray on....windows, paint, wheels, etc. When you start spraying that stuff it goes EVERYWHERE!!! And it's a P.I.T.A. to clean it up later.
