GM Card
Here's my problem. I have $1700 on my card for Bonus towards a new vehicle. But you can only use $1000 towards a new Corvette. Since I am no longer looking at new cars I am wondering if there is a way I can barter this discount for cash.
Anyone know any loopholes I can slip through? I have heard that dealers can take $1000 off the corvette and apply the rest to dealer installed items. But what does a dealer install that you would want on a Corvette? They won't use them to pay a service ticket. Why would they use them for dealer installed items??
Anyways, GM Card sucks and I want to get rid of it. I am tired of their BS.

Just have them pay 1/2, so you make $350 an and they save $350 on a new car.

The older one was you could get $500 a year for 6 years and use it as you please.
The new one is you can get as much as you want for 6 years, but they set the limits and the most I have ever seen on a Vette was $1000. The most is like $3500 and its on the Tahoes and such.
I have never seen them give cash out. You go to the dealership and get the best deal, then tell them you have the GM card.
Do you have the old card where you can use the total amount on one car, or do you have the "new improved" GM card with the redemption limits?
Also, I thought the time limit was 7 years, for a total of $3,500 for the old card????

I often wondered if they were not already a step ahead of you if you give them your name at the beginning of negotiations or when they ask to take a copy of your license, if you take a test drive. Seems like they would be able to run a quick check to see if you have the GM card and what $$ amount. That could possibly taint "the best deal". Just a thought.

Know the sneaky things dealers do, I would not put it pass them. But how could they see how much you have saved? They could see you have one, but I would not think it would be to see how much you have saved. But again you are dealing with the most hated people on the planet, so....

I think we'll all agree on what lowlifes car salesman are. I know based on my deals made that the GM rebate has had nothing to do with the pricing. The original card let you accumulate up to $1000/yr for seven years. On my 04 Vette I was able to redeem about $2500 at the time, don't know about the new ones.
But my opinion just changed. Dave over at Kerbeck.com just PM me and apologiged he did not get my PM last night and was unable to answer my questions. And he said he would get on it Monday. Thats pretty cool! He PM me on Sun of a 3 day weekend. These people rock!
Anyways. Back to what I was going to say about the GM Card. I have had dealers to ask if I had the GM card or trade in. I always say no. And then ask, what's the GM card? After they explain I say something like, well, maybe I should get one and wait on the new car. I can save more later on. I think this irks them because they get the sense they flushed a deal by opening their mouth.
You can see the blood run out of their faces when you do this. I admit I treat car salemen like ****. The first thing I do when they race out to me is I ask if they can sell me the car. 'Can you sell me this car?" Yes sir I sure can, ok so you can sell me this car? Yes Sir. OK, because I don't have time for you to run back and fourth to ask for permission from a sale manager to do something. If you can't sell me this car, go get the man who can. This does a good job of breaking their mind game they want to play with you. Then to really keep them on their toes, play their game on them. Ask a question about car a , then go to car b and ask another question, then car C and ask the same question as car a. Confusion is their best weapon! If you keep him confused and focused on what your saying, he cant focus on confusing you and this takes away his best weapon. At this point you own his ***. When it comes to numbers, they never make sense. Ask for paper and pencil and break the numbers down one by one. Or do one better, show up with pen paper and calculator in hand. Dont let him add this, included this blah blah!!! Make him itemize and explain each figure. this removes the 2nd best tool and you own his *** and you will know you won when he turns you over to another saleman or the sales manager. Just expect better gamesmanship from the sales manager.
Its a game of who kicks whos ***. The best weapon you have is money and your feet. They want the money, you want the car. But you can get the car anywhere, they cant get your money anywhere. Sales people operate by giving you so much information that your brain basically shuts down in a form of defense. This is the salesmans goal. To shut your brain down. I have been dealing with Lakeside Chevy off and on for a new truck and they are trying to pull that you pay sticker and the rebates are your discount BS. Screw them! Chevrolet even says the rabates are beyond your best negotiated price. I will never pay sticker and I have never bought a vehicle I didn't get at least 12.5% off sticker.
$36,000 Sticker
-$4,500 12.5% off sticker
$31,500 price
-$2,000 rebate (Chevrolet) Rebates always come off before taxes.
$29,500
+$1,843 Sales tax
$31,343
+ $207 Inv tax, Doc fee, Title and License
$31,550
-$2,000 GM Bonus cash (GM Card)
$29,550 Out the door Financed for 48 months with 0% interest.
Keep it simple. No confusing math or tricks. Write this down and see what a difference it makes. Now if your buying a Corvette, you need to check out the GMIP discount Kerbeck is offering on 2007's in the C6 forum. You can't get cheaper than GMIP. No games to be played. Prices cannot get any lower unless you get the $1000 off with the gm card.
Also, keep in mind the less they pay in trade, you also deduct the difference from sticker price. If they say you pay sticker, you say your trade gets retail. They wont like this but tell them straight up I play your game, when you get real, I will too.

The old card is 7 years, $500 yr x 7 = $3,500 off any GM car/truck including Corvette. No you can't get an old card if you don't have one. All the plans act as payment for a new car, meaning when you go to pay the dealer calls a GM number to get authorization so he can get reimburshed from GM. Any hokey stuff with dealer installed options is just a gimmick and the dealer can't get any part of that money from GM through the GM card deal. If they say they can they are just playing games with your wallet.
P.S. im one of those salesmen who happens to own a C5Z and a C6 so dont go tooting your horn, your not that smart.
