Since I've not even driven a C5 yet , just wondering can they do a good burnout with either the auto or stick ??
Not talking brake stand either, and don't do it often at all , but once in a while it would be nice to really smoke them up. I'm 44 y/o and never grew out of doing that once in a while.
I know these cars have the power , but are low center of gravity , wide tires and designed to hook up and go that is why I'm asking.
From: Ok! So you don't believe in conspiracies, but will you acknowledge the possibility of there being coordinated activities in secret places? Texas
Not a dumb question, but it has been asked many times before. I guess this isn't the type of question that you expect to find in the archives.
The answer is, it depends on the condition of the car, the gearing of the rear end, the surface on which you are driving, and tires for an auto. I'd suspect that a stick should be able to burn'em down pretty easily though. Just rev it up and dump the clutch. Perform a search for more info!
With a stick it will be easy; They have a 3.42 gear and the ability to dump the cluch.
The stock auto will not do much more than a small chirp without either doing some mods or stalling against the brake; the stock stall is ust too low. Some guys have said their cars did, but I've had two autos and couldn't get much in a straight line. (turning without traction contron is a different story)
HOWEVER...Slide in a high stall TC and 3:42 gears and an auto will LIGHT EM UP!! My wife's car is 90% stock not counting the 3000 stall TC and gears, and she can lay down some SMOKE!!
By the way, we're both over 40 too, BUT WE AIN'T DEAD YET either!!
if you get a 6 speed, just be carefull of wheel hop. they Burn out easy but the rear wheels will sometimes bounce. if it does, let up on the gas imediatley
Right before I changed the stock GY run~flats, I laid down a some rubber on my street (The rubber is still there... ).... But now after $1000+ for the Michelin PS/Z's, I'm not looking to "smoke 'em".....
A good launch in 3rd gear, at 1500 RPM is more than enough to get the job done.....
When you get your vette, which I hope is real soon. I think you wouldn't want to sit and smoke the tires, but just give a power churp to fill your needs. And all C5's can do that

Your wife lights em up?!
Does she have any hot sisters?
