Default Flameball

I just finished installing my new flameball shift ****. Is there any way or anything to get the shift boot up or to cover the gap. Right now I am still showing a few threads and the wire.

Cut the shifter shaft a little bit shorter.

To keep the boot all the way up and to hold the wire against the shaft, I used an o-ring.

Love the Flameball. Have a similar one in different color. IMO the best solution is just to go ahead and rip out the stock shifter and replace with a [ insert your favorite brand here ] aftermarket shifter. I like my Hurst a lot.

Nice work... just one more step!

My Hurst is quite a bit shorter, but I just used a short piece of double stick tape at the top of the shifter. It's held the boot in place for about two years now.

Roll the top edge inside of the boot and put a zip tie on it nice and tight. I have the same boot with the stock ****. This worked well for me.

Went down to Wal-Mart and stepped foot into the arts and crafts section. Found some sticky sided velcro.

Is this one of the lighted ones? If so, lets see a pic of it all lit up! I was thinking about doing this as well.

I wish, the wire is for the light. The **** has a tiny hole on the underside, which allows for a LED to be inserted. The wires are tapped into the traction control panel, so when I turn on the parking lights or headlights, it lights up. PIC is on the way. It is 5:35 p.m. here and my garage door faces west.

Personally, I think anything other than stock-look shifter ***** are tacky and reminds me of honda civics or even old camaro's. Not for me, but I do like the glow in the dark look.

When I installed my first Hurst shifter with a custom ****, there was no such thing as a honda civic (there were Honda 90 motorcycles )

They remind me of old Camaros too, only that's one of the things I like about them; a touch of retro.

Funny, the only Honda I ever owned had a shifter that looked remarkably like the stock C5.

Im installing a C6 shifter this weekend. I intend to to use a plastic zip tie under the boot. Im going to try that first before I send $50 on a new boot

You shouldn't need a new boot. The boot I have is exactly the same specs as the factory boot. As you can see there are a few ways to keep the boot up. Mine is also not pulling too tight when shifting. So you don't have to worry about that either.
