Default Up or Down?

Going to the Venice show next weekend brought up an age old question. When being judged at a show - top up or down? I've owned convertibles since 1967 and a member of NCCC since '68. For years it was up to the owner as to how he showed. Then NCCC changed and it is tops up. The reasoning was the coupes have to show their tops so should verts. BS!!! Most coupes have the option of either a T-top or Targa; why not take them off? If you don't want to show your top buy a vert! In a perfect world I would never put mine up; it would stay down forever. Whats the general consensis? Up or down?

Really depends on the show. Many want the tops up so they can be looked at in terms of condition and cleanliness. If you really want to know, call the contact for the show and ask what they judge on.

Generally in most antique car shows Convertibles are shown with the TOPS UP...by their jusdging rules...

When I have entered my C2 or C3 convertibles in an
antique car show I had to show with the tops UP.

I think that the NCRS/NCCC may be just following the Antique Show rules..if they now require tops up...

Have not entered and NCRS or NCCC judged shows in a few years so I really do not know what they now require... It used to be drivers choice..I THINK !

Not only does a Corvette convertible look better with the top DOWN, but any judge in their right mind would know that by looking at a pristine machine to include engine, interior, body and undercarriage to name a few.........that the top would also be pristine as well and should go without saying. A convertible looks better as that.....a convertible.

Drop the top and you are looking at a thing of beauty...whether it's a car or female!!!!

Top Down!
