Every what miles do I need to change my tranny fluid? I've always thought it was 5k and just went to 6k (car has 34k on it) and figured I would get my oil and trans at the same time.. Will 1k hurt?
Don't believe you need to change transmission fluid with each oil change. Owners manual and maintenance manual will recommend intervals between fluid changes. Most members change from factory fluid to their preferred synthetic (Mobil 1, AMSOil, Royal Purple etc.) and leave it in. I have a '99 FRC (MN6, not your MN12) changed out the factory transmission fluid and replaced it with AMSOil Synthetic ATF. Made a big difference in smooth shifting. I don't plan to do that again for at least two years minimum. Not sure about a Z06, but doubt you have to change the trasmission fluid with each oil change. Check your owners and maintenance manuals.

Actually (officially) the transmission has no change interval at all! In other words as far as GM cares, you never have to change it!
There is a huge variability on what owners really do. From what I have read on this forum, even the most laid back owners change it about every 30 K miles. Some more often than that, and racers change it quite often.
My Z has only about 7000 miles and I changed it to Redline D4 ATF because it was recommended for smoothness by C4C5specialist (a master Vette tech on the forum) He was absolutely right. It helped A LOT in the smoothness department. I also track the car and synthetic handles high temps better.
