I gave up my nap between jobs today to clean off some greasy substance that had sprayed over the right side of my car. While cursing myself for parking the vette on the street for merely a few hours, I noticed that I wasn't the only one washing my car in the noon Florida heat. Seems that some bored Pensacola boys went paintballing through my quiet (read: old people) neighborhood. Cars and houses on the other side of the street were all hit, and my vette was not shot!!!
Lucky. I went next door to inquire into the source of the greasy and hard-to-remove nastiness that was on my car. It was all on side that was against the curb, not the street. My neighbor said that she didn't have any pesticide, etc. applied that day. So, unless the punks got out of their car, walked around to the other side of mine, and applied a mist of junk, it was something else. One things for sure, my Vette was spared for some reason.
You're probably right. Must have ran through something in the drive last night.
The junk was not colored like the paint on other peoples houses. Even if I was hit, the paint would come off easily as it is water-soluble but the impact point couldn't be good for the paint.

Not only is the impact an issue for the paint, but the "goop" inside a paintball is INCREDIBLY bad for auto paint.
My daughter had her car hit by several paintballs while parked outside her classroom. It sat for several hours under hot sun before she realized it (and other cars in the area) had been vandilized. She drove home and we washed off the car ... and washed off the cars paint down to the steel !!
Long story short, the body shop told us they have seen many instances of paint ball "goop" eating throught the paint all the way to bare metal.
Suffice to say I don't appreciate kids who think that a simple "prank" is just "fun". The cost of repair was well over the $500.00 deductible on the policy, so the prank cost the deductible.
