Installed MTI shifter

the only thing i would change is to have it angled like the c6 shifter is. i had that in before and now neutral is where first used to be...it feels odd.

B&M - severe rattles (but took that out and sold it, so no worries there)
MTI - some rattle that worsens as RPM's raise. I am working on adapting an F-Body shift **** to the shifter to get rid of the rattle in the ****. After that I will play with lowering the shifter by removing the supplied B&M gasget and using a light coat of silicone, hopefully this will help get rid of some vibration too...
With luck, they'll return my calls, send me a shifter, or return my money. The C6 Z06 shifter offer Fred Beans is running is looking very appealing at this point.
I'm not saying anything bad about them, I just like to stay on top of things, so I know exactly what's going on.

I left them another message yesterday. Maybe they will call today. They did return my call a couple weeks ago. I was told it would ship in a few days.
I removed the shift **** and went for a drive (wear a glove
). The rattle was still as loud as ever.I removed the shifter and inspected the gasket that MTI now provides. I saw a few small dimples caused by some minor high spots in the mating surface where the shifter installs. I also noted that the gasket doesn't compress much at all, especially compared to the OEM foam gasket.
I removed the high spots with a "knife sharp" gasket scraper (be careful!) and did a dry fit and noticed that there was much less free play in the cup.
Since I thought there may still be a little room for improvement, I tried someone's suggestion in this thread and used a little wheel bearing grease on the outside of the plastic cup. The next dry fit had a tiny bit less play.
I reinstalled the shifter using an incredibly thin layer of RTV gasket maker and torqued to spec.
The next drive without a **** was perfect. The shifter still vibrated a bit to the touch, but made no noise at all.
When I reinstalled my modified C6 **** (on my 2002 Z06), it made a faint rattle under WOT. I'm going to try the teflon tape idea and see what happens.
All in all, I'm very happy with the shifter at this point. As always, your mileage may vary, but this cured mine.

Let me know if anyone finds out differently and comes up with a part number.
I'm going to send it back to MTI, or sell it off. Since some folks have no complaints, I can only assume that some cars have a little more vibration in the drive train than others. It may be fine for someone else, but I'm not going to keep it.
