Default Need help....

Hi, I am purchasing an X-pipe to eliminate the H-pipe jinggle. Now, someone told me that I need catalyic converters also for the X-pipe. Is this correct because I was told that the Borla X-pipe will bolt right up. I need to be able to pass emisions inspections.

Thanks,
TonyP

The x pipe has nothing to do with needing or not needing catalytic converters. All aftermarket x-pipes bolt on downstream of your converters, and yes, if you are going to pass emissions you've got to have them.
Now, you could go to high flow cats for less back pressure, but that would be a separate thing from ordering an x pipe. IMHO -- the Bassani is the best "X" out there. Take a look at the center section of those you are considering and see how well the Bassani is made to flow and to scavenge from side to side. It gets rid of the motorboat idle sound as well as the popping too............

I have the Magnaflow X-Pipe on my 03 and it bolts right up after measuring and cutting the stock H-Pipe. The X chamber on the Magnaflow is similar to the Bassani. No problem with the Cats. Stock Cats stay in place. Good Luck.

Default $'s for X pipe comparison

Take a look at these web sites for the Bassani, and then price the Magnaflow......the Magnaflow is "itty bitty" compared to what you get with the Bassani, I think....and its way more expensive............

The difference between those two X pipes wouldn't amount to a hill of beans in performance. Both are good. I also have the Magnaflow and am very happy with it.

The X-pipe should install right behind the stock cats and then the rear muffler section of the exhaust will bolt up to the X-pipe. You will have to cut the stock H-pipe section out to install the X-pipe.
