Default Air pump???

Can I take it out? This thing is so loud I can't stand it. It's the 2nd one and this one is worst then the first.
Can I just turn it off with no problems?
What does it do?
I have the Hurricane Intake no Header.
Thanks

It should only run at initial startup... if you turn the car to on w/o starting it you can her it whirring. It's in your front bumper and it's purpose is to supply fresh air to the cats for better cold start emissions. The fresh oxygen helps the cats heat up and catalyze quicker.

I ditched mine during my current build-up put I have headers w/o air tubes now and I plan to get the comming codes tuned out.

Dont mean to hijack the thread but where in the front bumper? I dont hear mine at all (2000 MN6) and I get the code after driving a short distance. I was just going to replace it.

Take it out and toss it, then turn off the code. I removed the whole system from my car. HT-it is up under the driver side access panel, remove that and you will see it.
