Driving along minding my own business when the remnants of a 24" box tree come flying out of the back of a landscape truck. Multiple pieces were coming at me. I tried my best, but still took a hit.
Of course, none of the 650 people in the truck habla englais. Luckily there was a sign on the front door, which I called and explained to the nice lady what happened. I followed the truck to the yard and those guys scattered like you know what. The owner showed up and I could tell when he was driving up he was thinking "Geez, why did it have to be a Corvette". Anyway, he offered to have it repaired. The light is cracked and will have to be replaced. Unfortunately, the new one will make the other side look like crap. So i'm thinking, why not do a MOD and put a positive spin on this. I started looking at the clear style housings out there. Correct me if I am wrong, but in CA the side markers have to be amber? Clear with an amber bulb is a no-no? I found 8 dealers on the aution site with prices from $64 to $117 shipped for ones that were all clear and looked identical. I found 3 others that had the side marker amber for $85 to $102. I saw 1 with black trim instead of clear. Which do you think would look better on DBGM?
I would stay away from the totally clear front lenses because to me they stand out too much and look more ricey. I would either go back with stock or the first two you have pictured actually look pretty darn good (the ones with amber still). I like those.
As for getting the bumper re-shot just make sure it gets done right. Nothing is worse than having a front bumper that doesnt match perfectly. And always check it out it different types of light. The best to see this is in evening direct sunlight.
Hope this helps.
with your color i like the clear better! hopefully it all works out for ya, sorry your baby got hit, but glad it wasnt worse! I always do the same thing when i break something, replace it with something aftermarket.
I agree, go through your insurance company and make a police report.
I Dont know about Ca. But in New York you dont need a Police report. All that does is put 2 points on your license. Just call your Insurance company first.
