Ok its 1 in the moring, here in the UK, and I was having a little fun in 1st and 2nd gear (I think the tires where spinning) when I went to shift to 3rd the car was not having it. With a little work I got it into a gear and made it home. With the car not running I can go through the gears without using the clutch with no problem. With the car running I can force the car into gear, and I do mean force. So did I toast the clutch? The clutch feels firm while pressing it to the floor. I only have 8000 miles. I know the warranty doesn’t cover the clutch but with only 8000 miles do I have a chance with GM. Thanks Josh :blueangel:
Josh, It's hard to realy get a true feel for what the car is doing on the net, but I have had very good luck with cureing my clutch problems by changeing out the flued in the clutch resevior. Use a syring(turkey bastor) to draw the flued out and wipe the inside. Refill with dot 3 brake flued and work the clutch repeat as needed. Hope it helps you as much as it has me. Ric
It sounds like the 3rd gear sycnro rings have bit the dust. This has been a little bit of a problem on the M12 transmission. Especially if you missed shift from 2-3. I don't know the servicing conditions on a C5 in the UK, but I would recommend a GM dealer warranty issue is in order. Sorry to hear about your transmission.
Sounds like syncro rings, although your post is a bit vague. Will the car still go easily into some gears while running under load, but not go into a specific gear or gears? (One or more syncros). Or will the car not go into any gear while running under load (clutch).
My second gear syncros were replaced under warranty at about your mileage or less (6k mi. I think). The Dealer said they were not broken, just worn out! I have no idea how that could have happened.
