Default Rechroming wheels

Did a search and didn't come up with much. Just wondering if anyone has had a set of chrome wheels rechromed? How good of a job did they do and who did you use? What are the basic drawbacks, if any, of doing this? Would you do it again if you had to or just buy new wheels? Thanks for any info you can offer.

Default chrome wheels

unless you have a custom set I think you would due better with an exchange look in the avertiseing section of any hot rod mag they have places were you get a new set of wheels and you send them your old ones its a lot cheaper than having your s redone.......

I haven't had much experiance with wheels, but I just had some bumpers re-chromed for my 67 Camaro. And they look fantastic! There's a really good chromer in Santa Clara, CA called Wheel Techniques. They do great work. I think they have a website also.

What's wrong with your current wheels?

I heard the process to rechrome a chrome wheel is more work then a non chrome wheel. Some places won't take chrome wheels as an exchange.

If wheels are previously chromed they must be stripped first. Not a huge deal, but probably a few bucks more than non-chromed wheels.

Nothing - have another set that have some chrome problems. Just wanting to know if rechroming is a viable option or not.

Check out the Hubcap and Wheel Store on St Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton, MO. 314-291-5101. They sell new custom wheels and refinish alloy and chrome wheels. I've seen some of their work and it looks pretty good. The prices seem about right also. Don't know what kind of warranty they give though. You'd have to ask.

Cheers

Thanks everyone. I've been to the Hubcap and Wheel Store before - may have to check with them.
