Default Potential 2002 Owner seeks wisdom!

Hello all!
A friend is offering his '02 convertible, white and tan interior/top. Purchased new by him, with a whopping 2,100 miles, to me for $33,000.00. Needless 2 say it's perfect, never in rain, yada, yada, yada.
Dual a/c, power seats, HUD, no mag. ride control. Is this good, or, since I can use the GM Employee Pricing option, should I just bone up and get a new one...With museum delivery...Yeah, that's the ticket!
What doth thy membership thinkith of this deal?

Well - expect some biased opinions - asking this in C5 General. Most will tell you the '02 sounds like a nice car, and the price isn't bad - if you asked on C6 General...they will tell you go for the C6.

Personally, not being a huge fan of the C6, I vote go with the C5. Also a comparably equipped C6 will go for about $60K MSRP....how much does your special deal get you off of MSRP?

And - I agree that the R8C Museum Delivery option is the way to go - you can get the Museum Experience package from the Museum for $350 - all you have to do is get your C5 to the Museum and pay the money!

Well if you can spend around 60 then go for the C6!

Then again if money isnt a problem then why not get a new Z? Haha

That is a pretty good deal considering how good of shape that car is in.

Me personally would like a new car though.

Good luck!

Go for the C6 - then post back after:

the top comes off,

the battery, for no reason goes dead, then dead again, etc. etc.

oh, don't forget the engine issue (flying parts)

So, get what you can afford, and remember, all Vettes are Vettes.

Both our great cars, go with the C5 it is a great car for less money. When you see that guy smiling at you in his new C6 you can smile back because you spent alot less and can do alot more fun things with the diffrence

How much would a C6 vert be with the same equipment? 2,100 miles is just short of new plus you don't have to break it in. I can think of a lot of things to do with 20Gs.

Thanks for the comments.
The guy is a very good friend, and he sometimes buys things on a whim, then tires of it quickly. He's had something like 300 cars in the last 30 years, so this is not anything new for him. Jags, Pantera, English, British, German...etc. He's just an international sort of guy!
So far, I think I'm leaning towards his as opposed to new.
Still not sure........

thanks again everyone!

I say go with the '02. Sounds like its still mostly new.
If money is not a problem and your gona buy a Vert a C6 new will cost ya $58K or so even with discount.
What look do you really want?

I'd go with the C5 'vert. I would not be afraid of low miles being an indication of any problem.

Unless you have money to burn, go with the C5. That is a nice color combo and almost new.

If money is no object get the C-6, or by the C-5 now and wait a couple of years to get the C-7.

What ever you decide, be happy and you will be because you are driving a Corvettea nd permigrin is included.

Buy your friends car, save the 30K. Heck it only has 2100 miles on it basically a brand new car for half the price.
