Default Painted hoodliners

If you are into showing your car or just like to do alot of mods to it, a painted hoodliner is a must. It's much easier that it may seem, but so are alot of other things that I wouldn't attempt but many forum members do.
The emblem itself is basically like number painting, and taking your time, it'll come out very nice. If you completely screw it up, you could always go back to black.
I have done two,and they came out rather nice. A mil yellow theme and a torch red theme.
If anyone in South Florida would like me to do theirs for them, I would.
I would do the emblem only, or do a complete flame job or any other design that I would feel capable of doing.

I do them with paint that I buy at an art supply store. they are made for airbrushing. The hoodliner doesn't suck in the paint, plus you can primer it with flat black first. The last hoodliner that I painted, I primered with driveway sealer, and when I posted "a unique solution to a unique problem" everyone thought i was crazy. I am used to that though because my whole life has been based on that theory; doing the opposite of what everyone else does. If you need any tips or additional info....

Isn't that driveway sealer flammable?

When i first posted that I had used driveway sealer (it was to lay down the fuzz effect) Everone posted replies to the thread abot the heat, but, you must remember that it doesn't get that HOT under there, otherwise all you plastic pieces would melt. For crying out loud it isn't an inferno.
On my last one, I jist used flat black spray paint and primer.
It really doesn't take anything special.
I was at a car show today in Venice FL admiring other hood liners with my wife and we only saw a couple that came close to mine. I don't think any were flamed.

Nice job on the hoodliner. I agree that if you show the car and run a hoodliner, the painted ones sure make it stand out.

How did you remove the clips that hold the headliner?

Get an old fork. (dinnerware type) remove two inside tines and bend it to a comfortable angle. Slide it under the round plastic retainer on the liner and pop it out. If you ruin the retainer, get more at NAPA or your favorite parts store. Bag of 10 for $5 or $6.

your emblem looks good, that's the part that I do with a paint brush.
As far as pulling out the retainers; i like the fork idea, but I just pull em out with my fingers.
Thank you for the compliments, and I do em inexpensively for those who actually live nearby. Using the colors to accent your vehicle and doing it the way that you want with some limits.
