To take something that is beneficial either asthetically or benefits the performance from one Corvette and use it on another is not being a poser, it is just maximizing what you have and making it better. I sold my 04 Z06 about a month ago. While I had it I never thought less of another Corvette owner who had Z06 wheels on a non-Z06 Vette, or was using LS6 parts on an LS1. I thought it made their car look and perform better. Even GM realized that the LS6 intake manifold would benefit the LS1 and began using them in all Vettes in 2001.

I just bought a 98 Coupe over the weekend. I am going to upgrade it with the 04 Z06 shocks and sway bars and I just ordered a set of C6 Z06 wheels in C5 Z06 sizes for the 98. They happen to be my favorite wheel on a Vette and I will enjoy them. I'm also trying to stay as conservative with my car budget as possible and they are a great bargain right now. I don't think that will make me a poser. I've owned a Z06 and it set a standard that I want to get as close to as possible. Does that make me a poser? I don't think so...I think it makes me smart!

It was just my opinion. If I see your car Scott04z on the street, I am going to think you are somewhat of a poser..or wanna a real Z06 but can't afford one

Wake!

I am not trying to pick on you, cuz I posted that question for honest answers. And that is what you gave me, and for that I am gratefull.

But I noticed you had a BMW as your avatar. I was wondering..

Do you own a Vette yourself? The reason I ask, is that BEFORE I had a vette, I had all these personal "I would NEVER DO THAT" sorta ideas... and now that I have one.. I just want to change everything and explore all the different looks for the car.

Seriously.. if it was easy enough.. I would change the body panels and have a BLACK SET for the Weekends.. .. and a SILVER SET for driving to work.

but I am a sandwich short of a picnic anyhow

I was just curious.. but honestly.. thank you for your responses.. DONT HOLD BACK.. that is why I posted that question.

It would be pretty idiotic for me to post that.. then get pissed that someone said something I didnt agree with.

ok, i'll be the odd man out

to me it's like putting 67 bolt-on alum wheels on a 63..... yeah, they'd fit, but it just ain't right.

but that's MY personal opinion....... do what makes you happy

No, don't worry, not upset at all. Everyone on this forum seems to agree with everything everyone says or likes. I state my opinion even when I disagree. Best of luck with your decision. Oh yeah, and yes I do own a C5 as well as some exotics, including an E60 M5.

i think the c6 rims(all) look better than the c5 rims. they all have a more modern design and its an upgrade.nothing wrong with that. plus they fit perfectly so GM knows exactly what they were doing

Default good idea

Yesterday, I just sold my Z06 wheels to a guy who had a Vett that wasn't a Z06. Those wheels look good on any Vett.

People make all kinds of assumptions about other people based purely on outward appearances...many of them are wrong and are shallow at best. If you were to see me on the street in my 98 and make the assumption you mentioned above, you would be wrong as well.

In the post which you are replying to I mentioned that I owned an 04 Z06, I owned it outright and chose to sell it in order to help send my daughter to college. I am downsizing for a few years because I have other priorities that I value much more than cars. While I am in budget mode, I am going to make the most of the car I drive. That happens to include C6 Z06 wheels...I am buying them because I like the way they look, not because I think they in anyway will make my 98 coupe look like a C6 Z06. So...in my case, your judgement would be incorrect.

The cool thing is that we have so many different options for our cars these days. Back in the 60's and 70's there were very few wheel options available for the classic Vettes and generally the OEM wheels were the best choice. In 2006 we have a myriad of wheels to choose from and many other options available to us for the cars we drive. I certainly don't argue with your right to choose what you like or dislike...I do however take issue with assigning a motive like "posing" to someone who's tastes might be different from your own. I think that you probably have better taste than that. You must..you like Corvettes!

You know the old saying "Those who SHOW the most.. HAVE the least"

I was a perfect example of that... was driving around a ferrari for a while.. and it damn near drove me to bankruptcy.. haha.. so I sold the damn thing... and would never spend that kind of money on a vehicle unless I could really afford it.

but then again I was Young and Dumb when I bought that thing. (23 years old)

Ofcourse most of America doesnt think this way. How many people do you know that are MAKING payments on a vehicle? prolly 95% I would say.. nothing wrong with that.. but I would never do that again. I payed Cash for my C5 .. its a pretty relaxing feeling to have no debt. And once again.. I know that.. becuase I have been at the EXTREME other end of the spectrum.

anyhow... just my 2 cents

Call me a sinner!

Seriously though, with wider, high-end, non-runflat tires it will suck your eyeballs out around corners.

While you may disagree and have your own opinion..in my mind, those wheels better fit on a Z06. I think of it as posing to an extent. If you like em, buy em. I didn't realize it was so difficult to express an opinion on this forum without getting people like you so upset.
