Take them off yourself and send the calipers to http://www.thepowdercoater.com/

Mike is a supporting vendor and he does an excellent job. It won't take him that long to send them back to you. That way your car is where it's most comfortable - in your garage.

Yes, you can do them yourself. I bought the powdercoating gun from Harbor Freight 49.00, used oven 40.00, powder from Eastwood 20.00. They came out great, this is a picture of the rear calipers.

whatever you do, don't paint them yourself. I've been hearing about folks painting their own and hadn't seen any before this past weekend (show in Venice, FL), they all looked bad. Not one that was done to the standard of a $30k+ auto (IMO).
I don't get this save a couple of bucks thing. If you want to save a couple of bucks, leave them alone, they look fine, far better than the hand jobs I saw in a show, no less.
And not to hijack this thread, but some of the "add on" (or should I say stick on) spoilers and various and sundry other "stuff" would be fine on a car costing 1/2, but on an expensive car it's just tacky. Maybe we should bring back curb feelers too.

Cheapest would be to use a caliper painting kit available from many forum vendors - it goes on easy, no need to remove the calipers and will last a long time.

If you want powdercoating, I agree with using ThePowderCoater.com. His exchange program makes it easy to get the job done and not have to leave your car at some shop for an extended period of time.

powdercoater.com!!!!!!!! Comes out to $50 bucks a caliper, put your order in, he paints what you want, sends you the new calipers, send him back yours and you have your car until you are ready to swap out.
His work is fantastic.

i would just buy a set of used calipers for 100 bucks powdercoat them and just do the swap yourself and best of all no down time on your car after you do the swap powdercoat your stock calipers and sell them red here on the forum my guess you actually will have done the job at no cost when you get the money back from your calipers . c5 and z06 calipers are the same except one is red and one is not. Thats what i did

Or actually look up a local powder coating shop like I did and pay $80 for all 4. Most of the time the little mom and pop shops we seem to have forgotten do things a LOT cheaper than the big boys most of us love to use.

Fill reservoir, loosen bleed screw, have a friend pump brakes to get air out and then hold to the floor and tighten bleed screw......rinse and repeat for other three corners.

I think I'd go about bleeding the brakes a little differently. I'd fill the reservoir, have someone pump the brakes a few times then hold, loosen the bleeder screw to let some air out, and tighten before they let the brake pedal up. Do that a couple times until you think you have all the air out. I would start with the furthest from the reservoir first=passenger rear, then driver rear, then passenger front, and lastly driver rear. There's a good write up somewhere on how to bleed brakes that I've seen before. Do a search for it if this seems unclear.
