I would like to make my own partition but I don't know what materials to use. I am looking for something to kill lots of the noise that is easy to work with and light weight. Any tips?
Try this
Edit: Hope I'm not stepping on any vendors toes. This is a drawing of the divider I made for my vert. You'll probably have to explode it to see the details. If you're intersted, I have pics. PM me.

In my oppinion, don't waist your time or money. You won't notice any difference. I had one made of high density foam covered with a carpet like material. Ecklers sells it for $99.99. Sold it at Carlisle in August. There was a thread a while back from someone that did a test measuring decibles. Same result. No difference.

I don't disagree with that.
However, the partition has it's merit. When I travel, I can stuff my trunk with loose bags and not worry about interference with the folded top. My design allows for storage not just in the main trunk area, but also under the folded top. Also allows access to the center storage compartment. FWIW
