E-brake problem.

E-brake problem.
I pull up the e-brake handle, hear the clicks, but it doesn't lock the car in place, nor does the brake warning light on the instrumentation panel go on. I know that the two problems are separate but have no idea what is the matter. Anyone?

Not sure about the light, but there's two adjustments to the Ebrake (which is a common C5 glitch...bad E brakes). The first involves parking up hill, letting your car roll backwards and heave up on the E Brake. This is supposed to up the tension a little bit...but it didn't work for me.
The next is more involved and requires you to remove your rear wheels and adjust the actual E Brake mechanism. I think it's in the Tech Tips...I'll see if I can find it.

Nope, doesn't work on this system, only way to adjust it to remove your rear rotors and adjust the star wheel adjuster on the parking brake...I just got doing this, and I love how short the parking brake is now!

E Brake Issue
I had a 98 that pulled up and clicked but no hold at all. The problem was on the console end of the handle. Something about a cable coming out of a pulley or guide. Good luck with it.

i did the rolling backward thing and it didnt help so i followed evil twin's how to on the adjustment and it was very simple to do. my brakes now hold when the handle is half way up. it would not hold at all before. remove the rear tires and brakes. it is just to bolts. it will take effort to get them loose though. after the bolts are out you can just lay the brakes on the suspension in the wheel well and pull the rotors. clean everything and adjust the star wheel 10 clicks at a time and try sliding the rotors back on. the tighter the better so keep turning the wheel till you cant get the rotor on then back off the star wheel till you can just slide the rotor on again ( make sure the e-brake is off ) it took around 40 turns for mine. put your brakes back on along with the wheels and you are done.
