got a low oil light on starting it yesterday. drove it a while so it was hot. i checked the oil and it was about 1/8 inch below the hash marks on the dip stick. when i t was cold it was at the bottom of the hash marks. i just got an oil change 1500 miles ago and its not burning nor leaking. is this a common prob or am i really low on oil?
If you're just below the hash marks, then add half a quart. Maybe you didn't get a full fill when the oil change was last done. Check it again after another 1500 miles.

Yup, this happened to me once and I checked it, barely low, so I just added a 1/2 and it never came back.
I had the Low Oil pop up a couple of days ago.......needless to say I freaked out..
I immediately stopped and checked the oil. It was right on full. So I waited a few minutes and checked a few more times. Still on full, so I'm thinking WTF?!?!
Anyways, got back in started it up and drove on....hasn't came back on yet.
It sounds to me when they did the oil change they didn't put the full 6.5 quarts of oil in.
i have seen that before - not with the vette but another car, my mothers car they once forgot to tighten the filter properly and it leaked, and on one other occasion they forgot the oil completly. good job it was a Mustang anyway they bought her a new motor after a BIG hassle . so in short check the filter to make sure its not leaking -or they may have shorted you a bit
I have had it happen before (as mentioned above) where the dealer doing the oil change just didn't put enough in when they did the change. I added a quart (yes they had miscounted by a whole quart) and watched my oil level closely for the next 1500 miles or so and it never moved.
