I was all fired up and thinking sell the 57 and get a C5.
The other day I see four C5 Vettes before I get a mile. How many 57 Chevys had I seen i a month ?? One, a foxy Nomad that I couldnt catch and I still remember the chrome rails on the tailgate.
Yea.... I still want the vette but I am going to think about it awhile..
Thanks- I think I just needed that feedback. The "intervention" worked, & the vette will be staying in the garage for a while longer... when the urge hits again, may have to look at a C6, I suppose!
I hope you dont ever plan on modding your EVO if you get one, i've read so many horror stories about mitsubitchy and warranty with the EVO. If you have any problems with that car its all voided from modding. True story you can probably find on the internet(thats where i found it), a guy took his EVO in for work, somebody at mitsubishi did some research and found out he raced it at a local track... Some how they got a hold of the race standings and voided his car warranty.
I've raced my vette at the track tons of times, and taken my vette in with mods all over the place for work, its never an issue.
I believe mitshubishi is a horrible company, a buddy of mine bought a spider not too long ago, it was such a lemon, Yet they would not refund or take care of the car! He had to get a lawyer and take them to court to get his money back, he won ofcourse. With the list of problems the car had it was obviously a lemon.
GM is a far superior company.
I did all this research after i was thinking about getting a EVO or WRX, i say subaru all the way if thats what you desire.

I've driven a Boxster and loved the handling, size & sound, and then drove an (yes, I'll admit it here) Evo IX, and had to say "wow, the test reports are right- that's an amazing car!" Certainly a very different class than the vette, of course, and arguably not the best looking vehicle made, but what a dance between driver & car! Now, I'm in my 40s & have concerns about how that gigantic wing on the back looks (not to mention the fact that my buddies will no doubt question my sanity over even considering selling my vette!), & not sure if any other vette owners have ever considered making such an unusual move. I also don't want to spend over 40k, so the Cayman is out, though I could consider a used Boxster, too, though frankly the Evo's performance was much more impressive. Any thoughts?

I agree, buy the Solstice GXP. 0-60 in about 5.5 second, and a sweet ride. Evo's look like an economy sedan. The Solstice is beautiful. On the other hand, the Vette is beautiful too.

Good decision!!!
With the money you would have invested in an evo, you could mod your vette to turn it into a whole new animal that will put it in league with exotics.
Buy the Evo. Don't listen to these bunch of vette lovin' intervention seeking cry babies. Go for it. Don't look back, you know you will love the ride, the comfort of the seat, the acceleration, the wing, the whine of the engine, the responsiveness of the drivetrain. Of course, you will pay a bit more for insurance, but that's only ecause the bulk of the Evo buyers are young, its not the cars fault. It has plenty of safety features. You will love the sub-culture, you know it. And you can order it in the color you choose, and get it brand spankin new. You don't need to drive an out-dated, technologically inferior vette, go for the EVO. Now get out there and JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
