Default Mouse = Check Engine Light!

So I had some spirited driving this past weekend and Sunday afternoon the check engine light came on for the first time ever. Car was driving fine so I was not sure what it could be. Took it into the dealership this morning to see what was up.
Turns out that a mouse had nested in the engine compartment and chewed threw wires and some hoses.

Guess this is what I get for taking a job where I can work from home and keep the miles down on the vette!
Pest control has been called- NO SIGNS AT ALL IN THE GARAGE!

At least it was an easy find. Time to put some more miles on that car so the critters can't nest.

Funny thing is I usually drive it at least once a week- I posted a thread a week or two ago about tires- I noticed cord showing so I did not drive it until this past friday to get the new tires put on. Guess in that time frame the mouse found himself a home! I just hope he cooked in the spirited driving on this past weekend....

Same thing just happened to me in my new Tahoe..
Chewed/ate the insulation around the first 3" of all the wires in about 10 wiring harnesses under the fuse block..

A major mess..

Same deal as you.. no signs, but mine sits outside in a driveway.
Driven once a week or every other week,,, Lots of daytime activity on the driveway, kids, bikes, my truck, wife's car etc..

But still, quiet & peaceful at night..
In 13 yrs living where I'm at this is the 1st episode involving a car..

However, when I open up air conditioners, there' always signs..
in EVERY unit..... ....

I put some moth ***** in a mesh bag under the fuse block & wire tied some to the frame...

Keeping my fingers crossed it won't happen again...
But, I'm not betting on it..

Mouse 1- Eric 1
MY trap with the chunky peanut butter got him- he licked one clean and tripped it without getting caught- second one down the line, he was not so lucky.....
Thanks for the bait tips!

Well, It WAS a smart mouse to think if I can't beat 'um, hop in and join 'um. However, a sucker for peanutbutter.
