Default Got my first Vette!

Hey guys I've been lurking here for a few weeks now and now I can officially join the ranks. 2003 coupe w 30,000 miles. I LOVE IT! I plan on some light mods, intake and exhaust. I need to tint the windows, and may change wheels eventually. This place is a wealth of knowledge and I plan on hanging around.
BTW if you're wondering about my screen name I have a 89 Silverado w/ a Paxton.

Default Nice Ride

I too joined the club about 6 weeks ago. A black 2003 also with 3400 miles on it. It is the best car I have had in 30 years. I don't see me driving anything but a Vette for the rest of my life!

Is it an early '03, or a later one? You can tell by the VIN. The earlier '03's had the more robust FI system. Much easier to mod and you won't have to drop the fuel tanks to change the fuel filter.

VINs are broken down somewhere here in the net, along with production numbers for '03. Do a search. The last half of the '03 production, and the VIN will tell you where your car was in the production cycle, had the EPA-required downgraded FI system and the buried fuel filters. All '04s had them.

I'll try a search. Thanks for the info!

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a fun one. Just wait until you get the urge to put a supercharger on the 2003. Mine is a lot of fun with that and other mods.

The change in the fuel system hit around Thanksgiving of the model run (Nov. 2002). Mine rolled off the assembly line on December 2nd (the first Monday after Thanksgiving) and it has the new system. Not too much trouble to mod - just can't get too crazy without changing the system out. I haven't changed the system out and I've got about 600 h.p. at the rear wheels.

Maybe I'll see ya around at some of the Florida events before long.

LOL! Yeah, I'm telling myself keep the mods mild. My truck is alot of fun, but 600 hp is crazy power! I'm getting about 400 out of my truck. Thanks for the welcome I'm looking foward to the FL events.

Welcome and have a ball with your new toy, a great looking Vette.
Take good care of her and she will take care of you (unlike some Chicks

Forgot to mention for comparison purposes, my VIN is 15407 so that should point you in the right direction of what fuel system you should have.

Everything is relative...if you go to the Forced Induction/Nitrous section, you'll see that my 600 rwhp is "mild" compared to some of the folks around here.

Your truck sounds like a pretty cool setup too.
