Default LS6 vs. LS2 Intake

Ok I gotta find out why is it everyone is wanting the LS6 intake instead of doing a LS2 swap and thottle body is there down side effect to doing this or is it just something not many are doing?

Has anyone put a LS2 intake and throttle body on a pretty much stock C5 if so what were the results.

There is a recent thread in the Tech section where someone just flow tested LSI, LS6 and LS2 intakes. LS1 was the winner.

Here's some test comparisons, not on a stock motor though.

These intakes and larger TBs won't do much for a stock motor. It is well known that the LS2 intake is adequate, but GM could have done better.

Opps, thats the LS6 intake that was the winner. :o

Can't say why the LS6 is better than the LS2. But, when I changed from the LS1 to the LS6 I could feel it... The differnce is not huge on a stock motor and I bet I would have been disappointed if I had a dyno measurment. But, still a good mod on the older C5s that have the LS1. And, make sure you have a LS1 before doing anything, all the newer C5s got the LS6 not just the Z06's.

I guess thats when they picked up the extra 5 Hp. 97-00 were rated 354 HP. In 01 they began rating them at 350HP. Could this be the reason. Anyways, I ain't changing mine to pick up 5 HP...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the port shapes on the LS6 manifold are a little better than what's found on the LS2 manifold.

Fact of the matter is that several tests have been done and the LS6 has beaten the LS2 manifold every time. Now, this is in a as-cast (or molded) configuration. Aparrently there's a couple of guys out there who can work over a LS2 manifold and get some very noticable gains out of them.

I was thinking the increase in size for the TB alone would be a power increase alone.

The intake was not all that changed though...I have an 00 now (LS1 Intake) I also had a 97 (LS1 intake) when I put long tube headers on it with this intake- It really woke her up in the upper RPM's...I notice it now on the stock 00 that it feels a little more restricted then the 97 did with the LS6 intake...its not hard to swap...and if you are planning on future mods- its a good idea to have it...more air in, more air out makes a happier car!
