Default A key question?

I have two keys for our 99. One works no matter which way it is inserted the other will only work one way. Anyone had this type of problem? What was the cause. Any ideas what the cause might be? I looked at the keys and cannot find any difference.

There are two small resistors on the key. Try gently cleaning them with a pencil eraser.

The problem could be a number of things. First, be more detailed with your questions. Does the key turn in the lock - key inserted both ways? If so then it is a problem with the resister or the reading of the resistance value.

Is one side of the resister pellet worn down more than other? Maybe the ignition switch contacts are dirty or worn just enough that it does not make contact with the one side of the resister that has more wear.

Let us know what you find or if you have more questions.

The key will only turn when inserted one way not the other. On insertion the Steering Wheel and seat does move into position. The key will not turn

Then the cut of the key on one side must be off just enough that the tumblers aren't lined up internally. Hard to tell by the naked eye.

Somehow mark (make a notch) on the key to tell by feel which side is up and just use it that way.
