Ok i really dont like the feel of my stock C5 shift. It feels so big and clumsy. Sometimes its kinda hard to get it into the gears. I have had it looked at and nothing is wrong with it i guess its just the way its built. Before my vette i drove a porsche boxster. Obviously i cant expect the exact same but the porsche sifted SOOOO short and smooth. Is there anything like that for a vette like a shorter shift and smooth? Also if there is can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of this? Thanks guys
i heard really good things about the new mti 6shooter shifter. i have a b&m short shifter and love it. I dont think you will like the hurst or the B&M shifters. they are somewhat notchy and take a little more effort to shift.
I tried the B&M ripper and it was horrible, took it out after about three days. The throw was incredibly short, but took more effort than it was worth in the long run and had vibration problems. I have recently ordered the MTI 6-shooter that I have heard nothing but positive feedback about.
Exerpt from another site:
Question: I’ve heard of people installing stock C6 shifters in C5s and seeing an improvement. Is yours better than this?
Answer: The stock C6 shifter is EXACTLY identical to the C5 from the stub down. There is no throw reduction in the C6 shifter over the C5 beyond the 1" difference in handle height, which as mentioned earlier, is more for appearance and comfort than throw reduction (~10%). Yes the C6 shifter bends the **** back and lowers it, but you get no real throw reduction over stock. The Six Shooter Shifter is a real short-throw shifter, i.e. it has an elevated pivot that yields a 35% throw reduction.

I think that I would have to see a detailed picture to understand this statement.
The MTI shifter may be a great product. I do not have any experience with it. I sold them my stock shifter to make one. They received it on Tuesday. I hope for payment sometime next week.
Is the
Six Shooter Shifter
mti 6shooter shifter
c6 of mti shifter
are all those the same? I am very confused. I dont want anything that is too hard to shift. I just want a shorter feel and more smooth. Is it possible to have both?
Just to add a bit of color to this discussion, I changed my shift **** only and was amazed by the difference. I truly believe the stock shift **** is responsible for 75+% of the problems I had shifting my stock 2004 Z06. It's something to try if you want to do your shifter upgrades incrementally. Good luck to you!

Sorry for the confusion. Let me try to make this very simple.
C6 shifter: from a 6th generation vette, 2005 and beyond. To switch to this shifter requires a shifter and a new shift ****. I will post a picture of said shifter and **** at the bottom of this post. OK to buy used. The best place that I know of to buy the shifter from is Fred Beans, a supporting vendor for about $200 shipped. Link is below. http://www.trademotion.com/splash/in...?siteid=214152
MTI shifter: New shifter that has very positive feedback that I am not familiar with. Available from mti. Also a supporting vendor. I'm not sure of the cost. They are also a supporting vendor. Link is below. http://www.mtiracing.com/artmaverick/
An after market shifter is a personal choice. It depends on who you ask as to what they recommend. Take your time and decide for yourself which is best for you.
