Default C5Z vs c6 vs c6z

Ok guys, I am thinking about wanting more speed. I am considering 3 choices. What are your thoughts.

1) buy the STS twin turbo system for my basically paid for C5Z06

2) trade in the 03Z for a C6 coupe and get the STS kit

3) just buy an C6Z06 and keep it stock.

???????????????????????????????????????? ??

Option 1 sounds pretty good.

Option 2 sounds like a bad idea.

Option 3 sounds like the best idea.

If I you are very comfortable financially I'd say definitely get the C6Z. All you need is LT's and you'll have 500 Naturally aspirated rear wheel ponies pushing a brand new 3100lb factory reliable & warrantied Exotic killer, legend of a car, already perfectly setup for that power level.

On a tighter budget, I'd take option #1, but just remember though if you want to go over 500rwhp you have to start considering a forged motor, among other things...

So Option 3 is the most SOLID choice IMO if the money's there of course

In the end, either is an awesome choice and you can't go wrong

Option 2 with option to convert it into 3. They jury is still out, the ls2 is taking some serious hp stock. Then if you want you could buy a convertible that would leave any 6z in your wake.
Instead of posing you would then be customized.

Droptop C6 kitted to C6z 700rwhp and still may have a few pennies left to do the interior.

I'd do option 3, but my wife won't let me, but I'm almost there. Whatever you decide, best of luck to ya.

There is no point in option 2 unless you prefer the C6 styling over your C5. IMO a well tuned STS car should trounce a stock C6Z. That being said it's nice to have a car you can drive the pi$$ out of, get a 5 year powertrain warranty and go mid-low 11's bone stock. Throw down 10-12k for the STS or another 40K for a new Z. Your call but you'll be happy either way, guaranteed.

None of the above. I'd hold onto the money for now and wait for the C7 to come out. We're closin' in fast on that position. And you know it's gonna blow away the C6 program.

??? C7? I didn't hear anything about that. I figured that would be many years off still. The C5 ran for 7 years and I don't see any reason why the C6 won't last just as long. And I don't know how much better you can make the c6Z let alone blow it away..at anywhere near the price.

GeeZ!, a good H/C setup on a C5Z will get you the performance of a stock C6Z. You don't need power adders to do that. OTOH, a low boost STS will give your present car the ability to fly by C6Zs. If you've got the $$ to spend, and like the body style, get the new Z, but leave it stock???? I couldn't.

7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h -- Corvette C6Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg,

7:56* - 155.798 km/h -- Chevrolet Corvette C5Z06
Ring times 14 secs difference.

Add a h&c to C6Z 690rwhp with a radical h&c setup and wow a no brainer. You can stop modding there. Brakes are already large enough, fuel needs are lower and still the newest dressed toy out the box.

Add turbos to a C5Z and forge, your in another league and again wow a no brainer. But you still have an extensive list of modding left to do.
Huge mods w/great savings for speed and power...

This has to be the hardest question to have to ask yourself. Im sitting here asking myself what i want to eat for breakfast this late in the day. Been up for three hours. I dont have a C5Z or the funds to purchase a C6Z. Damm you and vicarious thinking.

I say we get the C6Z

Don't know what your point is here, but you've got some big misconceptions. First, he said one of the options was a C6Z, and leave it stock, not modded as per your example. Another is, no H/C C6Z will make anywhere near 690rwhp. As far as your track times (I guess?) you listed, were stock vs. stock, and I was comparing stock C6Z to a H/C C5Z. Your blood sugar must be low.

Nobody's denying that the C6Z will mop the floor with the C5Z around a road course. Put a nice H&C package on the C5 and the difference would be much less than 14 seconds though.
