Default Bra question

Anyone have one of the stretch fit, polyester knit bras on their ride? I am referring to the ones that look like spandex bicycle shorts?

If so, I can't tell from the catalog pics if their are openings for air to get to the duct work or for the lights. I'd like to get one for my Z for cruising and trips to the track, but I don't necessarily want to inhibit any natural airflow to motor or brakes.

They are not real thick, so I would think that air would flow just fine. Haven't heard of anyone complaining about any overheating or intake problems with that bra on.

I have one. There are no openings on the bra. Its thin enough that the DRL's and turn signals shine through it but at reduced brightness.

Cooling air for the radiator is taken from under the car and the bra doesn't affect that. Mine runs the same temp with the bra on or off. It works really well for trips and road runs at keeping bugs off the paint. Very easy and quick to put on and remove.

I have the LeMans Blue colored bra on my Electron Blue 02 and the color match is pretty good. Its available in Red, Silver, Blue and Black.

I have used one for two years.
There is no differrence in engine temps with the bra on or off.
Surprisingly even the thin layer of lycra gives good impact resistance. Itnot only keeps bugs off the nose, but does protect against hiway debris.

Buy it direct from the manufacturer and save yourself some $
They also make matching mirror covers. You can get them as well as the bra direct for about the price of the bra alone thru some catalogues.

In my opinion the LeMans Blue would look good. Here it is on Electron Blue.

Thanks guys.

I actually wasn't thinking about cooling, but more about air flow to my Halltech for performance reasons. Since the mesh screens are somewhat covered, I was concerned about not getting the same amoutn/velocity of air in through those (even though its not ram air, it could make a small difference). It sounds like I am worrying about nothing.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the pic! Out of curiosity, what are the pros and cons of this bras vs the GM bra?

Well, since this is a thin stretchable fabric it will not repel water or large road debris like the thicker vinyl bras will. It's perfect for road runs and trips for keeping the dirt and bugs off. When off it can be folded up to the size of a softball and stored most anywhere.

It also installs and removes quickly and easily (60 seconds or so) using 3 snaps per side that mount in existing screw holes. No drilling involved.

It will cut down the air flow through the Z06 grilles a little but nothing to worry about. There is a C5 using this bra that runs regularly on the Autocross circuit with no problems with front brake cooling.

Thanks LT-4 CE for this thread. I was curious about the same, also a little more in conjunction if that's ok...

I'm hittn’ the road to head to SC next summer with the Z… I’ve been warned about how harsh the drive can be on the Vette with the large bugs and other obvious elements etc. I have never liked the use masks however for this occasion I am reconsidering after speaking with a few folks who have done this trip in prior years. This is the type of bra I had been looking at. Did you end up getting this mask? How did you like it?

Has anyone else had experience with this “Polyester Knit "No Gap-No Flap" Protection Mask”? The description states it is a “lightweight fabric, manufactured of polyester knit, offers a truly custom fit that won't gap or warp.” Any brand preferred over others?

I have all the typical concerns about flapping, rubbing, tight fit on the C5 Z06; debris getting underneath the mask… I’m on the fence about using a mask and appreciate people sharing their experiences and thoughts.

Thanks 2k2C5 for the link, I had only found it in Black -- come across any Yellow??

Thanking you in advance.
