Radar Detector Mounts
I just ordered my V1 today, after being very lucky last week when getting let go after getting pulled over for 80 in a 65.
To my surprise, the V1 already comes witn an invisicord type connection, so that's 1 less thing I don't need to buy.
Now for the mounting.
I've seen several different brackets, some from Ecklers and some from Vettemods. The Ecklers brackets can mount right below the rear view, or off to the side, but appear to be lower than the vettemods brackets.
What's the point of a $400 detector if you don't have it mounted ideally for detecting radar/laser.
So how do you have yours mounted, and which bracket would you recommend?
Here's what I've found works great. Mount the unit just to the right of the rear view mirror using the supplied suction cups. Then run the wires along the windshield inside the panels (very easy) down to the fuse panel in the passenger footwell and hardwire in. Buy the remote unit and mount it to the left of the steering column using the velcro. This makes everything virtually invisible especially if you have a vert. With the top down and the visor folded under it's safe from prying eyes. Has saved me on many occassions.
Buy a lottery ticket after that close encounter.
I agree that is the one I use. Hooks under the rear view mirror, Only trouble is mine had a habit of sliding off on acceleration. Drilled small hole so the bracket would lock on, no more trouble, works great with hookup in the wheel well.
Vette mods bracket. V1's Concealed display module (accessory) mounted in ashtray (I don't smoke). Concealed display blacks out main unit for stealth and all indicators visible in ashtray. Audible single still alerts from V1. Wiring done through pillar and dash to passenger footwell fuses.

I did the same except I mounted it to the left of the mirror giving me more access to the controls. Nearly invisible when you look into the car. Zuti

brackets
I'm confused. You all mention running the cord down into the fuse box by the foot wells. I thought the invisicord thing just lets you tap right into the sources at the rear view mirror?

Great lakes trophy, short cord to electro mrror, and your good to go.
SloC5, The only bad thing about V1 is the brightness of display. Creates alot of tag alongs. Vette plus detector equals head of the pack as far as tail gatters go. I use concealed display to be more stealthy thus wiring to fuse box.
Might not matter as much in your coupe. In a convertable looks like Rudolph's guides my sleigh tonight!

I completely agree, unless you just like to run wire. BTW, you can hook into the standard mirror, it doesn't have to be the monochromotic one.
