I finally was able to talk Drive in Auto Sound down to $180 (initally quoted me $220) And this was for my 03Z (FRC) I didn't end up getting it cause I felt it was a little high, I probally will go with them though. This was Solar Guard Brand with lifetime warrenty.

my family owns a couple of car shops (Chicago, and Hilton Head Island) and 200 is wayyy too much. A c5 should be 140 absolute max. Its an easy *** car to tint. Any shade you want with a metalized tint from Sun guard. These are the only films we use. Life time warranty on anything we touch and its nationwide too. we usualy carry standard 35,20, AND 5%....sorry didnt mean to turn this into an advertisment, but wow 220!!!! we do like full size vans for that much with like 12 windows.
p.s. make sure your felt is good on your window stops or else they will wear through your tint. took 1 day for mine to get messed up.
does anyone have before/after pics of their tint job? In my case thermal penetration/reflection is an important quality with me since the 97 is a black car with black interior and i live in the joyous climate of Houston Texas.
Wow, thats the first time i heard the c5 was an EASY car to tint.
No one within 200miles of me would even TOUCH mine.
I was quoted 225-250 (canadian) for just teh back window for the ones that would.
I got my back window done 5%, and sides done 50% (sun-guard) and paid 270 for all. (I got them done when i went back home for vacation)
You get what you pay for. I went to Tint USA, they are a national chain and weren't cheap. $200 for only the rear . Wow! They did an awesome job. They used a black-out tint on the border and cut in the tint in the middle.I was really impressed. I've done windows on other cars at the cheep places, they don't last, bubbles, poor materials and bad workmanship. Also be aware of metalic tints. I was told they can interfere with electronics, radar detectors and gps .
Paid $250 here for my '98 coupe - Sides (35%) and rear (20%) and solid black vinyl over the dots - Lifetime warranty. But this is in California (San Francisco Bay Area) where, in some areas around here, that tinter has to pay $1,000,000 for a 3br/1ba starter home! Some places in this area charge as much as $375+!!!!
I guess the cost is all relative to the cost of doing business, and that varies GREATLY across the country.
Around $200 (don't exactly remember how much) for HP Quantum film at 36%. This was from a solarguard tint shop and includes a lifetime warranty. It helped to put me at ease when I found out that the gorgeous '03 EB coupe out front belonged to the guy that tinted my car and the tint was flawless. I have no complaints about my tint job.
I paid some where between $225-$250, I forget exactly for 35% LLamar all around. The back hatch is one piece computer cut and my tinter tinted over the black dots on the top of the hatch and it looks excellent. No cheating with glue, sanding, or using black vinyl to cover them. You get what you pay for.
Lots of people pay $150 by me at other shops but you back hatch looks like this
20 on the sides 15 in the back... the dots turns out decent considering... $200.00
another $100 for the front.. which i'll probably go back and do later... but i'm happy with this for now... I used a local company... everything is computer cut..

Ouch!! $200 for a 2 piece rear !?! Taking it to a tinter skilled enough to do the rear in one piece is usually the goal & reason for a slightly higher price
