Default Hatch vent for C5

Advice pls. I am looking at buying a hatch vent. Noticed a thread over on the C4 forum on hatch vent and see that the corvettegadgetman.com has one for a C5 too. Looks interesting! Anyone tried this one from gadgetman on a C5? Tx

I didn't get my hatch vents from that vendor but I did buy a pair and I love them. It keeps the back hatch from acting like a parachute (sp?) and I not only noticed a big difference in the amount of back pressure when the targa was off but handling improved dramatically too.

The buffeting effect seems to be less, thats what i first noticed about it. I like mine.

Do a search, I've read other posts describing that product. But there is a corvette tax on it. With a little ingenuity you can make your own.

Although considerably different in style and design, we purchased a 'Ventmaster' C5 coupe hatch vent kit from 'WCC'...during their recent 'Open House' event in Anaheim, CA. They weren't inexpensive by any means, but then again, neither is anything else for a Corvette. We'll most certainly utilize them the next time we decide to drive our coupe with the targa top off, as we've experienced too much of a 'wind-tunnel' effect without them in the past.

Yes, I bought a set from the corvettegatgetman for $35 and they are worth it, no more helicopter wind buffetting noises at high speeds and a slighty noticeable smoothness at low speeds. Three cons- the rubber pieces that fit onto "L" shaped parts fall off over time(glue them on to the vents), the paint on the two latches are getting scraped off(not a big deal though, unless you want a perfect/scratchless vette), and everyone keeps telling me my hatch is open!

The biggest problem that you will encounter is that you will be bombarded with people telling you that your hatch is open.

The hatch vents are great if you are tired of the wind buffeting. $35 doesn't seem too bad of a price.

Thx for comment. Have gone ahead and ordered them from gadgetman ... http://www.corvettegadgetman.com/index.php3
Already received a quick response on order and being mailed today! Great service! Oh there was a price increase to 42 bucks total, but worth it to reduce that annoying buffeting noise!!

An update on the hatch vent "C5 EZ Vent". Got it in the mail. What a BIG difference using the EZ Vent hatch vent!!! I am impressed. Definitely makes a difference in the buffeting noise and well worth $42 to me. Excellent service from the gadget-man and it arrived in the mail faster than I expected. I am not concerned about the paint rubbing off on latches over time, minor thing to me . It is different with hatch vent in place and the overall appearance plus the comments on it being "open", rather comical actually. It just stirs some questions on why it is open. Again, the hatch vent well worth it to me and enjoy the ride much better now. Great price too!

Any chance we could get a pic of your hatch with these installed? I'd like to see how far up it sits...

Thanks,
Brad

I got mine from Zip and I love them! It quiets the noise downand the circulating air in the cab and lets the air pass through to the back keeping it cool and nice on the nice days!

Thanks,Matt
