Windshield wiper problem...
So I finally pick up my baby

The previous owner told me there was an issue with the wiper not turning off. I immediatly though of the module, he said no they need to be adjusted. He's had this problem before and apparently his local dealership fix it by adjusting the arms. He said something about the little disc on the arm assembly is catching causing the wiper to run constantly.
Does this sound right? I don't plan on driving it in the rain however I have NO wipers since the only way to keep them off is to pull the fuse.
Thanks for your help!
I was amazed when I saw your thread, as I was about to start one of my own
.I started my car up yesterday after work and the wipers were going, and the washer fluid was flying
. I thought I'd bumped the switch but that wasn't it. I finally had to pull the fuse.On the way home I noticed that the button, for the washer fluid, at the end of the wiper control lever was gone
. I found it and 2 small springs laying on, and beside, the passenger seat. Evidently, it flew off during the day. You might want to check this on your car. Perhaps something is going on under the button, even if it is still there. Not to pirate the thread, but has anyone else had this button fly off? Are the any more parts besides the button itself and the springs? I'm thinking there might be some type of metal piece that would make, or break, contact when the button is pushed, but I couldn't find anything else laying around in the car
Thanks for any inputs!

I just reread your original post, and just maybe the "disc and arm assembly" that the previous owner referred to are the controls inside the car???????

Yeah I had the button fly off - it shot across the car and hit the passenger window. Wipers went crazy/fluid kept shooting out. Dealer had to replace the wiper stalk. $320 fix but was fully covered under my extended warranty. More common problem on the 02's it seems. First trip to the dealer. I was pleased that they really took care of the car - even parked it at an angle so no one would park next to it when I went to pick it up.

When little button flies out, make sure you have the two little springs. (If your warranty will cover this then have the stalk replaced). There are four electric contacts just inside of the end of the stalk. If you look at the button there are two holes for the springs and two little divider walls that separate the electric contacts. If the button flies off then the two sets of contacts will touch. One set will run the wiper and the other will run the pump. Take the button and spread the prongs that will clip into the stalk. Be careful not to break them. It seems that the prongs get loose and allows the springs to eject the button across the car. Spread prongs, insert springs, align prongs. press into stalk. If you can't find the springs, or the button. either remove the fuse, or insert a broken toothpick between the two set of contacts.
I used a broken toothpick, it was easier than trying to find the fuses.
That's the only testing I did. Any ideas? Still sludged up utters?

i am not sure where this module is on a vette but I had a 97 chevy express van and the wipers would only work on high and if I recall no spray either . either high setting or nothing ( other settings would not work ) I also remember that it had no return memory , so wherever you turned the wipers off , they stopped and not returned to the off position .
if I remember correctly "again" , there is a delay board built into the wiper motor , held in by a few screws . don't recall removing the motor , just the screws and I had access to the board . pulled the board out , there was a resistor , a high value , that was burned in half . got a replacement ( not an exact match but close enough) from radio shack . soldered it on the board in plce of the other one , put everything back together and the wipers worked like a charm .
some auto parts like NAPA sell the delay boards seprate , but you have to have an exact match to your model number .
the only other altrnative is to replace the wiper motor , assuming that it has the board built in , just like in the 97 express van .
I am sorry if my recollection is not vivid , but this is something that I had done about 3 years ago .

are you??
