Obviously my question is facetious however it dawned on me that I'm never fixing the things that usually break and go bad on your daily driver. I'm always having high performance/routine maintenance things done to my vette but rarely do you hear about the items that usually require repair on "other" cars. A few of the things that I am referring to are like tie rod ends, stabilizer links, control arms, rotten exhausts, bad power window/locks motors, oil pressure senders, burst radiator hoses, starter gone bad, bad alternator, .....etc. I'm sure that no doubt there are corvette owners who had to deal with these issues but it seems that the everyday garage doesn't see these vettes or maybe I have just been lucky. I would imagine that if I own the car long enough I will have to deal with these items sooner or later. Of course my daily driver hasn't had a "service column lock" message either.
My DD is a BMW 740iL. Every one of those items you mentioned (and a few other electrical problems) has occurred. C5 owners should consider themselves blessed in comparison. It is the "ultimate driving machine" when I get a chance to drive it.

I've been lucky as well. Both of my Corvettes have been far more reliable than my wife's 01 Volvo. That thing is always in the shop. She refuses to get rid of it though.
I suspect a great deal of the reason Corvettes are so reliable is because half the owners are crawling under them every Saturday. With that much attention all the time, a Yugo would be reliable.

I have a '94 740iL, with a re-built transmission that I sold and the new owner is getting a program transmission message that is boggling to my tranny shop & mechanics. Had to make an appointment at BMW to diagnose $$$$$$$

Ever LOOK at your car when you wax it? Maybe open the hood and notice some corrosion on your battery or a freyed belt? Ever change the oil yourself? Look under the car much then?
