The other day I received in the mail a notice from the local dealership reminding me that I will soon need 30,000 mile service (not really, I'm only on 23,000) and offering me a special discounted price of $196.99. The only thing I can find in my owner's manual under schedule maintenance is replace air cleaner filter and check fluids, etc. I suppose an oil change might be included, too, but $200 seems like a lot. Is this a "stealership" in action or am I missing something? Thanks.
If It Is Anything Like The Dealership I Work At It Is A Bg Service To Make Money.something Like Air Fuel And Oil Filters And A Trans Flush.we Do Them At 15k And 30k.
It costs like 80 bucks to change out the engine oil alone.....Sooo....unless you want to crawl around under the car yourselfand change the rest of the fliuds.....get R done.
Cheap insurance I think.

You're not missing anything - this is just a way for the dealer to make some easy money by not doing anything. Whatever is recommended can be done by you at substantially less cost.

I don't miss the days when I glady paid this. The oil is so easy to change it amazes me that people still pay this outrageous price. JD is correct though, all this "Service" can be done by you or an independent mechanic for a lot less.

My dealership only charges $14.00 to change the oil if I provide the oil and filter. I hate to say this, but Wally World usually has the Mobil 1 oil at a better price than Advance or AutoZone. Any way at $14.00 it's not worth it for me to change it myself and then have to worry about getting rid of the waste oil.

I just paid $700 for a 60,000 mile service on my Jaguar, I still feel a little sore back there
but I did also pay $800 at 50,000 on the C5, for a tranny flush - filter...etc, rear-axle differential service, coolant flush, blackwing cleaning, engine cleaning, fuel system service, flush brake system, basically everything except an oil change... she almost 10 years old and I want her to last... plus I took it to D&M Corvette Specialists, so they know their Vettes
