Default HUD 1st available on Z06?

I have an '01 without HUD. It was mfd. 12/00. Was HUD an available option?

It was first offered in 02 for the Z06 and in 99 for the C5.

01 Z06 could not get a HUD on it, but the gauges are setup for interfacing with the HUD. Just need to get the parts (fellow forum member sells kits to do this) and install and you have HUD. Haven't done it myself, but a lot of people on the forum have.

The HUD is one of the most useful instruments on the car. The ones on the dash are always in a shadow no matter how sunny the day is and which direction I am driving. At speed it is really great since you can check your speedo without taking your eyes off the road. I almost never look at the dash instruments any more except for the DIC where I display Oil Temp.

The ones I saw on GPs were never as useful as the Corvette unit. I just wish they had married it with the Caddy Night Vision system. Instead they priced the night vision out of existence.

Not a hard install, I did it on mine. Pacevette sells the kits, I got mine from him.

I love the HUD, but I simply can't read it very well during the day wearing a quality pair of polarized sunglasses. I use mine primarily at night, when I turn off the dash lights and bask in the cool blue glow of the HUD framing the road in front of me...
