Default What's it worth?: 04 Z06 21K miles

Shopping for an 02-04 Z06 in red with black interior with little or no mods. Found a one owner Red / Black 04 loaded except BSM, only modification is chromed Z06 wheels. 21K miles, new Good Year F1 tires, warranty expires this month asking $38K. Fair price? Can I do better? Thanks, Jeff

I paid about $3k less for an 04 black/black with 16.7k miles in early August. I'd say you can do better since it's getting to be the non-driving season and prices don't often go up!

Thanks Steve, Appears to be a buyers market. Just pick up any Auto Trader and look at the quantity still for sale. I'll keep looking.

Well, I do agree that my deal seemed pretty good at the time, but prices have been trending down since. I'd think if nothing else that you could get the same deal now as I did 2 months ago since it's a buyers market. Good luck!

A low mile 02 might be the way to go..since the warrenty is running out anyway on 04s..their basically the same car and you may save some $$.Low mile examples are out there.

I feel I got taken when I got my 03Z Black/mod red w/13k miles for 37K, almost 2 months ago, but it was the EXACT one I was looking for, Crome Z (not repo) rims, already had a CAI, Borla catback, real nice trunk divider, and the 3 piece cargo covers for the rear holes. So I guess it also depends on if you have a specific color combo you want. OH, I also got a 4 yr (almost bumper to bumper) warrenty for only 1k.

You can save around $5-$6K using this logic. I think the only differences are the fuel delivery system & the shock valving.

All the '04 Z's have the steel shifter forks, and some of the late model '03's have them also.

I just picked up a '02 yellow/black with 38K miles for $28K. Not the lowest mileage, but not too bad.

I'm patient. I just remember a club member bought a blue 03 with less than 2000 miles off ebay for 32-33K this summer! I'm pretty set on red/black, with no BSM, low mods, so my choices are narrow.

Nothin's says you can't offer the guy $35K and see if he takes it or at least negotiates with you. If it is exactly the car you want and you can get it for a "ball park" price, go for it. If a grand or two is going to make the difference between buying a particular car or not, than take the other advice and look for one that is a year or two older, or just keep waiting for the "steal" to roll around (but be prepared to pounce on it).

When I've bought collector/fun cars, and I've bought and sold a bunch of them, I remember some advice my father gave me when I was young -- "If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is." So sometimes, to get exactly what you want, you have to spend a little more to get it. And waiting for the perfect deal doesn't always mean it will come your way.

If the car is clean I say go for it. Definitely in the ball park.

Key point from your post in bold above - if it's under 3 year/36K miles then you can add the GMPP bumper to bumper warranty. The '04's are the only Z's left that you can do this with. By adding the GMPP you are essentially adding value to the car...one year from now, two identical Z06's (mileage, color, options, etc) one has the GMPP one doesn't - which one do you think will have the higher resale value?

BTW (IMHO), $38K for a 21K mile '04 Z06 is on the high side...$35 ~ $36 tops....private party or dealer?

I scored one of those "deal of a lifetime - in the right place at the right time" from a private party back in Feb o this year - $36K for an 11K mile 2004 Z06/Z16. First thing I did was add the GMPP.
