Default Where does rev limiter kick in?

Just now have a little over 500 miles on new 02 Z06. When I got on it the tach read about 6200 or 6300 the rev limiter kicked in. The tach on the head up display however read 6500, has anyone else noticed this?

Rev limiter is at 6600 on my 01 Z06 and believe it remains unchanged for 02.

What you probably experienced is the inherent lag in the elctronics and mechanics that cause the swing of the tac. This is notable in 1st and 2d gears where the revs climb so fast. It's why drag racers usually start the shift in those gears at an indicated 6200-6300, so as to not invoke the rev limiter.

BTW...you probably know this but there is no limiter when you downshift. So looking for 4th and grabbling 2d instead will definitely over-rev and damage the engine.

Just like Ranger says. Under hard acceleration in 2nd, my limiter kicks in at about 6300 RPM "indicated" on the dial. Grab for the next gear at 6200 RPM in 1st or 2nd.
