The auction probably had a buy it now for $8700 but someone bid a lower amount so the buyitnow goes away.

It's definately a scam...I reported it to EBAY a couple of days ago. The ad re-appeared w/o the $8,700 price and email request. It would appear to be a stolen unauthorized third party scam.
