I am a new vert owner and have noticed when driving at night and when a truck/SUV pulls up behind me at a stop light; my side rear view mirrors shine in like they are giving me laser eye surgery. I have to aim them away so I can literally see to drive. Is this a common phenomeon for night driving?

You are going to have that with a sports car. It was always bothersome with the other sports cars I've owned. It's because you sit so low. Trucks are taller so you are in the high intensity area of their lights even if they have them aimed correctly. I've got the auto-dimming mirrors, too. So it doesn't bother me so much with the Vette.
