I've used RaggTop cleaner with good results on my shale top. However, I doubt that it would darken a top unless the dirt/blemishes were what was making the top lighter.

I'm still waiting (my fault) to use the raggtop kit. Sounds like the best product out there.

there's a carpet/vinyl dye sold at most auto stores...duplicolor. If you want that deep black, it'll give it to you...I did one in gloss black and it's awesome looking...you'll only want a light mist coat . . .too much and it'll lose it's soft touch...

Before you try dying it, I would suggest you try cleaning it.

I've only ever cleaned and treated my top with RaggTop and it works great. Highly recommend it.

Clean it with soap and water and then use a Shop Vac to suck the dirt out. If it's never been done before you may want to do this 2 or 3 times till the water you suck out is clear. Then use Raggtop conditioner. My .02

I have a similiar problem with shiny spots on my Black cloth top. It looks like the fabric has rubbed smooth in places from being folded. I've tried various tricks including brushing and misting flat black paint, but they're still noticable. So I'm still looking for a fix.

Is Ragtopp good for all colors? I have Oak and I am too embarassed to take out the top.

As far as cleaning with soap and water... any tips?
obviously it isn't good to do it in the direct sunlight... what about

- Soap type, Dove? dishwashing detergent? car washing soap?
- Water temp: warm, hot or cold?

Can I use a brush scruber like a toothbrush or anything abrasive like a brillo pad or steel brush?

FYI - I heard it is good to wait til the top is completely dry before storing it. Is that right?

Sorry for all the questions..

Just used the protectant on Sunday after washing and letting dry.
I didn't need the cleaner this time.
After applying two coats (waiting 15-20 mins between) it made the top
look brand new and uniformly darker black. HTH
