Question about window operation
It seems to me that both windows ought to work the same, and until recently, I think they did.
My understanding is that if you tap the lower button, the window will roll down automatically, all the way. But if you leave your finger on the button while the window is lowering, and release it, the window will stop at the point of travel when you removed your finger.
My passenger window is operating this way, but my driver's window simply rolls all the way down when I depress the button, unless I stop it by pressing the up button.
So am I correct that my driver's side window is now malfunctioning? Any easy way to reset it? Or is the dealer going to dread my GMPP warranty yet again?
Something sounds wrong. Both of mine go automatically all the way down with a tap. Looks like its a trip to the dealer. Glad you have warranty...otherwise the blood would be flowing from your jugular

Thanks for the reply. Re-read the middle part of my post. I seem to recall reading in my '02 manual that the windows will drop with a tap (both do) and that they will stop their descent if instead of tapping, you leave your finger on the down button to the point where you want to stop the travel and release the button at that point.
That's how my passenger side is working (tap to drop all the way, hold and release to determine how far) and I believe the driver's side used to work that way as well.
I'd take the door panel off and make sure there's no corrosion in any of the connectors. And most of all the ground connection for the module. A dollar to a donut it's an electrical connection that's to fault. If you take it to the dealer all they will do is start replacing things until it works again. It's worth checking out the connectors and ground connections before you take it in.

That's not a bad idea, but I don't think I need to remove the door panel to pop out the control module to check for a loose connection at the harness, do I? The last time I had the door panel off, the module practically fell out of the arm rest.

Oddly enough, my driver's window started operating correctly, as it should, this morning. So I've either got an intermittent problem that nobody will ever find or merely a case of contacts that might have become dirty from under-use or something else weird. Anyway, it seems to be working correctly now, so I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie.
