[Z06] Question on shipping protection
As you can see from the attached picture that was taken at the factory, it appears that it can vary. The middle EB Z06 has a good deal of white plastic, while the last EB car has very little.
Also, how much and where do they apply the clear protectant?
The reason I'm asking is my car came with the clear protectant on the top and some white plastic on the door sill, much like the last car in the attached picture. Otherwise, the car was unprotected. I'm wondering if this is abnormal or not.
I keep finding a pinhead sized white substance in odd areas that look like rubbing compound splatter and am trying to figure out if the car has been significantly reworked or refinished.
Thanks

The Corvette comes with the white plastic on the nose and rear quarter panels and the areas as in your picture. There is clear plastic on the hood and rear deck. The whire powder is from the factory as each Corvette is finesed at the factory with machine buffers. The dealership is supposed to remove the powder before delivery. Protection is pretty good on the C5 and the cars come through in very good shape. The powder will come off very easily with a good car washing. Just damp wash towel it off.
