Default A spring from the Pedal area

On the way into work this morning I push in the clutch and I hear this metal-metal clank. Everything is still working fine and the pedals still return to normal location. I get to the office and look in that area and there is a think coil spring with grease on it. Anyone have any idea what it went to or it is for? Everything still works fine.

This is an assist spring that is more trouble than it is helpful. It's designed to help hold the pedal down to lighten pressure required. Most people take it off when installing a new clutch.

More likely than not it is your "Clutch Pedal Assist Spring" - some people refer to it as the "Clutch Pedal Return Spring", but it actually assists in reducing the amount of pedal effort required to push in the clutch. I had mine not only break, but it hung up the clutch pedal during a 1 - 2 shift and a 2 - 3 shift under heavy acceleration - thought I had total cooked my clutch...

The only place I know of to get one is a dealership. It is not "required", the car will work just fine without it, but the pedal effort will be slightly higher. When you get the new one, you will have to push in the clutch pedal with one hand, snap the center of the spring into its mount, and use a pair of needle nose pliers to put the fingers in their mounting holes. Takes about 2 minutes to do.

Mine busted, too. Haven't replaced it. Haven't had any problems, either.

Lol, I'm going to find mine and take it off! Anyone have a pic of what to look for?

I renamed it the "clutch pedal stuck to the floor spring" and took it off. Never had that problem again.

Mine broke too, but from what I can tell, it forces the pedal back, therfore it actually INCREASES the pedal effort when it is functional. I never replaced mine, seems to be fine as-is.
