Mandatory front plate MADNESS !
Sgt Paul
1st, my father is a Fairfax County, VA. Sheriff's Dept. veteran. My bother-in-law in an active officer with the East Point, GA PD. With that being said, I respect and understand the work that they, and you, do.
What I have less respect for is the small town cops in the area that I live in...not too professional on many levels...but that is a whole other discussion. It has been said in this thread "move to another area if you don't like it".. and to that I say "I'm working on it!"
To the statement that I made earlier about it not being a ticketable offence in Texas, apparently I was misinformed by the judge that told me that once. I stand corrected. Apparently I was wrong and I was very lucky getting pulled over those 4 times with no citations or written warnings. Regardless, I'm now in compliance with the law, so it's a moot point.
As was mentioned, the Texas legislature had a bill on the floor to do away with the plate last year. However, the bill did not pass. It was shortly after the bill was defeated that I noticed stepped up enforcement of the front plate. Go figure. Anyhow, I have signed petitions in support of killing the front plate law. Guess I'll have to step it up a bit and write my representatives now.
Didn't mean to offend any LEO's out there...just venting my frustration over a silly law. Hopefully we can get the law changed soon.
Think I'll go have a doughnut with my Dad now...
